The Federation of the Left, provincial coordination of Barletta-Andria-Trani, convened a conference on 08.02.2010 print on the assumptions of the construction of biomass power stations, with the presence of Maria Campese (National Secretary of the Communist Party of the re-founding - member National Council of the Federation of the left) and Sergio Evangelista, Provincial Council of the Federation of the Left.
of the possibility of building a 4 plant biomass in the only territory of the BAT (over 400 are those required at regional level) The evangelical counsel has voted in favor of the agenda presented to the Provincial Council, which affirmed the illegality of the route so far made for the approval of these plants, as is the Provincial Council of the Bat deliberative body in this regard. Beyond
of the process below, and Maria Campese, and Sergio Evangelista emphasized that:
• It is not clean energy. The emissions of the biomass power plant are extremely dangerous to humans, getting cancer and genetic damage. In this respect, there are studies and research, and so for those who might want to read up before making inferences on the safety of such installations.
• Even if emissions were zero, the raw material is not on site but must be imported from Africa and Asia, forcing the populations of those places to deforestation and cultivation of crops for the production of oils. In addition, the transport fuel would result in the pollution, pollution of the territories for road transport in tankers, waste of resources fossil fuels (fuel) for the operation of ships and trucks.
• The interest in building biomass power stations comes from government grants (taken from our pockets through the voice CIP6 billing), so high as to almost double the cost of building the plant, with a profit of almost 100% of capital invested (for example, on a construction cost of E 250 million, in a few years of contributions are paid E. 400 million). Not a bad deal!
• Plants of this nature affect irreversibly the agricultural economy, the tourism and agro-food areas of the health of citizens.
• The Apulia Region produces electricity in excess of their requirements, the energy that is not even entered all the electricity distribution network because that network, outdated, unable to absorb larger amount than that which already carries.
• In addition, these types of systems, from experience already lived in other places that have been installed, with time are transformed into real incinerators, which produce dioxins and other toxic substances, even with the specter of the 'waste emergency ".
OUR PROPOSAL
The Federation of the Left proposes that: • It uses the real
clean energy, the sun. It is implanted in all buildings: public, industrial and residential, photovoltaic panels (which generate electricity) and solar-thermal panels (which provide the heating-cooling and hot water). So by all citizens would no longer have to pay energy bills (electricity and gas), but rather may have a gain. Moreover, it would create employment opportunities for the extensive installation and maintenance of these facilities.
• What to start from the beginning an intensive campaign of information by inviting people to adopt a series of steps to save energy. It 'been shown that if all the lights of our appliances when not in use were off, across Italy it would save energy equivalent to the electricity production of the four nuclear power plants which the government said it would build.
• To avoid instrumental waste emergency, to start immediately an information campaign on the amount of waste (packaging, containers, ....) And is promoted throughout the collection with the 'door to door' with reuse, recovery and recycling of materials, with a substantial savings of resources and the ability to respond and workers. And 'demonstrated that for every work unit used in the incinerator if it takes 20 in collection' door to door '. There are now a number of municipalities that are approaching goal 'zero waste', for example Capannori.
• So a prudent environmental policy, sensitive to forms of energy used and based on policies of containment of waste, giving a strong employment response and are seamlessly combined to tourism and agro-food of our territories.
is not given to mayors and administrators of public ignorance. If you do not have skills you have a duty to inform and make consequential choices that safeguard the collective good, and not the interest of a few unscrupulous businessmen.
to start immediately a broad consultation of the public, informing them properly, instead of making choices, isolated, in secret rooms.
